Nigeria has lots of beautiful places you really want to visit. In this post I have taken out time to list 12 beautiful places every tourist wants to see.

  1. Obudu Mountain Resort

This is one of the most beautiful resorts in West Africa. Obudu Mountain Resort is located in the highlands and deep tropical forests of Cross River State with a temperate climate at about 45 miles from the border with Cameroon. With rich natural vegetation and a picturesque view, Obudu is increasingly becoming popular amongst tourists from all around Nigeria and Africa as a whole. This is proudly one of Africa’s finest and spectacular tourist destinations.

2. Olumo Rock

Located in the western part of Nigeria, Olumo rock stands out as one of the most visited tourists attractions. It’s known to have been used as a natural fortress during inter-tribal warfare in the 19th century.

A trip to Olumo rock usually starts with a climb up the man-made stairs carved into the rock. The journey continues with climbs on irregularly sized rocks (or ladders which are now provided) through a narrow corridor that leads to the top of the rock. This is another amazing view you would not want to miss.

3. Ibeno Beach

Now kindly follow me to the Southern part of Nigeria let me show you more beauty. Welcome to Ibeno Beach. Did you know that this is the longest beach in West Africa? It stretches over 45km sand bank which transverses many riverine communities of Akwa Ibom state. This is beautiful and lovely place to relax and unwind.

4. Awhum Waterfall

Are you a lover of adventure? Awhum Waterfall is a place for people like you. The waterfall is as a result of massive outcrop of granite rock with water cascading over the top forming a stream. It’s situated at Amaugwe village of Awhum town in Udi Local Government Area in Enugu State.

Awhum Waterfall is 30 metres high and it is famed to have both healing powers and the capability of dispelling satanic or evil forces. It is for these reasons the falls have become a place of Christian pilgrimage and a prayer centre”

5. Millenium Park Abuja

Millenium Park Abuja is known to have hosted more foreigners than any other tourist centers in Nigeria. It is located in the Maitama district of the Federal Capital Territory.

The Park has a part dedicated to uncontaminated nature. In a system of terraces at different levels are located Nigeria’s mountain vegetation, savannadeciduous forest, rainforest and brushwood as well as greenhouses for butterflies and tropical birds.

This state of the art Park was designed by the Italian architect Manfredi Nicoletti in 2003. It has quickly become one of the main attractions of the city of Abuja bringing thousands of people together each day.

6. The Tinapa Free Zone and Resort

Cross Rivers state is known for her numerous tourists attractions. Tinapa Resort is more than just a resort center. It was intended to be used as free trade zone. The resort has an entertainment strip that contains a casinodigital cinema, children’s arcade, restaurants, a mini amphitheater, a night club and pubs. There is an artificial tidal lake that feeds from the Calabar River, a Water Park / Leisure Land and parking Space for 4,000 cars. Though the resort is not functioning in it’s full capacity due to government policies not favouring it, it’s still one of the most sort after places to spend quality time with loved ones.

7. Idanre Hills

Added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List on October 8, 2007, Idanre Hills is known for its beautiful landscape. It is also known as Oke Idanre. It is located in Idanre town in Ondo State of southwestern Nigeria.

Standing on top of the hills and viewing the communities around it will give you this “Oh wow” feeling.

According to Wikipedia, Idanre Hills is located on a Precambrian igneous batholith that is about 500 Million years old, and is cut by several large fracture that form deep valleys within the rocks.

8. Farin Ruwa Falls

Farin Ruwa falls is located in the Farin Ruwa Development Area, under Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The water fall is 450 meters high and gushes out with great force that it forms what looks like white smoke, hence its name ‘Farin Ruwa’ meaning ‘white water’ in Huasa. The tourists attraction is still under development and poses to become a hot-spot for tourists in the near future.

9. Yankari National Park

This reserve is known for having the largest surviving elephant population in West Africa. Yankari is rich in animal life, with antelopes (roan, waterbuckbushbuck, and hartebeest), elephants, hippopotamuses, giraffes, baboons, hyenas, lions, leopards, and crocodiles. It’s located in Bauchi State, East-Central Nigeria. Special features of the park include ancient sandstone cisterns, carved by former inhabitants for water storage, and the Wikki Warm Springs.

10. Ikogosi Warm Springs

Ikogosi Warm Springs

Ikogosi Warm Springs is known for the confluence of warm and cold spring flowing alongside each other without mixing. These attributes make the spring a tourist attraction in Nigeria. Research suggested that the warm spring has a temperature of about 70oC at the source and 37oC at the confluence. It is one of the best historical sites in Nigeria especially for those who like swimming.
